After more than a dozen years leading the design and production staff at a prominent Los Angeles design studio overseeing the creation of hundreds of Corporate Reports and literally thousands of design and collateral projects, Eugene—also a principal founder of NeedThree—brings both his talent for exceptional design as well as his vast production experience to our studios.

Born and raised on the small island of Kauai, Hawaii, Eugene’s early ability as an illustrator and initial interest in fashion took him to Honolulu where he first formally studied design at the University of Hawaii. Here, however, his interests shifted to graphic design and the power of commercial art. As a result, his growing and dynamic portfolio attracted the attention of the internationally prestigious Art Center College of Design in Pasadena, California where he graduated with honors.

Since then, Eugene has continued to hone his intuitive eye and his sense of visual drama to invigorate some of the most exciting brands and some of the most successful companies in America, leading the design for many major branding and marketing campaigns for such clients/products as: Vertu for the Nokia Company; “Distinguished Company” for CB Richard Ellis’ Century Park Project, and the nationwide re-branding of the ALS Foundation. Eugene’s expertise in corporate communications can be seen in his award-winning annual reports, packaging, print collateral and online media for many Fortune 100 and 500 companies including: AeroVironment, Ingram Micro, Tetra Tech, Motorola, Advanced Medical Optics, Calavo Growers, Amgen, Guitar Center and Clif Bar.

Although he periodically makes the sojourn home to Hawaii, Eugene has made Southern California his family’s home for more than 25 years where his personal focus has led him to lend his creative hand for such organizations as the Midnight Mission, Architecture for Humanity and the American Institute of Graphic Arts. With N3 agency partner Richard Huvard, Eugene is also an owner and Senior Brand Director of Staats Bicycles and Ciari Parts, overseeing all aspects of product and brand development.
